Moving to Spain course

If the answer is yes, this is the course for you! Do you have the feeling that you want to be more part of the life in Spain while you are there? Do you want to speak to the locals? or simply talk to the doctor, do the shopping, talk to town hall etc?

This course is designed to get you there!
In this course you will learn the basics to be able to run your normal daily life in Spanish. Also you will learn how Spaniards think, act and live. Our culture and mentality. To give you an example of the lessons: imagine you are relocating with your family, you will need to arrange your NIE, be able to solve problems with the utilities companies, the ayuntamiento, dealing with bills, finding a school for your children etc. In this course you will learn how to do all that.

What I am going to learn?

Moving to Spain course: this course has four levels. Spain 1, Spain 2 and Spain 3  Each level is 10 lessons. Spain 4 is 10 –  20 lessons depending on student´s previous Spanish knowledge 

Spain 1 (A1.1)

Subjects:

  • Giving and requesting personal information
  • Introduce yourself and others
  • Explain why you want to do something
  • Talk about professions
  • Talk about what you do
  • Discovering places
  • Talk about cities, villages, asking and giving directions
  • Talking about your family
  • Talking and asking about likes and dislikes

Grammar:

  • Phonetic alphabet, letters, vowels, consonants and intonation. 
  • Nouns and adjectives gender
  • Three conjugations -ar, -er and -ir in present
  • Verbs ser, llamarse, tener, estar
  • Personal pronouns
  • ¨Hay¨ uses

Spain 2 (A1.2)

  • Asking the prices in the shop and the market
  • Eating out in bars and restaurants

  • Speaking about habits and frequency.

Spain 3 (A1.3)

  • Speaking about people’s skills and talents
  • Talking about past habits and customs
  • Talking about past experiences

Spain 4 (A1.4)

This course is A1 – A2 level This course is designed to put into practice everything you learned in the other three courses or similar. We will explain in this course how things work in Spain. We will do role plays and real life situations in the following subjects:

FIRST DAYS – introduce yourself, asking and giving directions, parts of the city, Spanish bar culture, what is the NIE, how do I apply for the NIE, el empadronamiento.

FOOD – A day in the market, ordering food and complaining about food.

In and around the HOUSE: contracting the telephone, electricity, gas, and internet company, problems with the utilities companies, My house has a problem who do I call? Filing a complaint

The FAMILY and FREE TIME activities – talk about the family, looking for a school for your children, looking for sports for you and/ or your kids, hobbies and free time activities, describing people character and appearance, and go shopping.

DOCTORS and emergencies – going to the doctor, making an appoinment, explaining what your syptoms and problems are, going to the pharmacy.  Asking for help, for example an ambulance, police etc

Looking for a HOUSE to rent or buy – how the contracts work in Spain, explain at the estate agents what type of property to rent or buy you  are looking for, how to call the estate agents, and ask for information about a property.

JOBS – how is the working world in Spain? CV and presentation letters, talk about your skills, look at job advertisements, information about the work contract, Unemployment office, payslip and driver´s license
